What Is Numerology?
Numerology is the study of numbers as a spiritual language. Every number carries its own vibration and meaning. When you read the numbers in your birthday, the year you are living through, or the sequences you keep seeing, you begin to understand yourself, your soul and your path with real clarity.
The universe is speaking to us in infinite languages, and numerology is one of them.
The language of numbers
Numbers exist in every part of our lives. Math, science, music, design, architecture, geometry and code are all built on them. The ancients and mystics have worked with the wisdom of numbers since the beginning. Numerology translates one of the invisible languages of the universe: numbers are the visible symbols of that invisible communication.
Numerology is synchronicity, and synchronicity is a sign of destiny.
People often tell me, “I’m just not good with numbers.” You don’t need to be. The most math we do is simple addition, like 1 + 1 = 2. Practicing numerology is fluid, artistic, creative and poetic. Please make it fun.
How numerology works
The numerology I teach merges Tantric numerology, a yogic system of numbers, with Mystical Qabalah from the Western Mystery Tradition. Tantra means “an instrument for expansion,” and that is what the numbers are: a tool for expanding your awareness. I use Tantric numerology to build the chart, and the meanings of the numbers come from Qabalah and the Tree of Life.
In this system of Tantric numerology we work with twelve numbers: 0 through 11. To find a number, add its digits together until you reach a single digit, or a 10 or 11, which we keep as they are. For example, the year 2027 is 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11, which makes it an 11 year.
Each number is an archetype, much like a card in the Tarot or a sign in astrology. The meanings are a launching pad for your own intuition. You don’t have to be psychic to be a numerologist, but the more you practice numerology, the more psychic you will become.
Numbers in nature
Numerology exists whether or not we name it. Bees build their honeycomb in hexagons, and in Qabalah the number 6 is the color yellow, the color of bees and honey. Cut a red apple in half across its middle and the core forms a five-pointed star, and red is the color of the number 5. The Fibonacci sequence appears everywhere from sunflowers and pine cones to seashells, hurricanes and galaxies.
Destiny, by design
A Numerology Chart shows the tendencies, talents and patterns in your life. It never says you are stuck. Nothing is written in stone. Numerology is a tool of destiny, and your destiny is your highest purpose. Whatever your numbers are, you can harness their virtues.
The practice moves you from the question “What will happen to me?” to the question “What must I do?”
What are angel numbers?
When the same number keeps appearing, like 11:11 on the clock or 333 on a receipt, many people call it an angel number: a sign or a message from something higher.
Triple numbers carry special weight, and the reason lies in the Qabalistic story of creation. Creation began as a single point in space, the number 1, called Kether, the Crown. That point created a second point, and two points form a line: force, called Chokmah, wisdom. Then a third point appeared, and three points form a triangle, the first container: form, called Binah, understanding. Three is where energy first takes shape. This is why a triple number such as 888 holds a noticeable depth to it. The three makes it more manifest.
No number is simply a good sign or a bad sign. A number that seems negative can be a blessing, a nudge to change course. A number that feels lucky can remind you that too much of a good thing is still too much. Every number is infinite, and every number is a message meant to guide you.
Numbers tell a story
Numerology is storytelling. It is art and poetry. One number is a word; numbers that keep showing up together are a sentence. One day I kept seeing 17: my grocery total, a license plate, my café order. That night my now-wife bet on 17 at a casino in Venice and won. 17 became one of our numbers, and it has its own mythology for our family. You will find numbers that become your own. Pay attention to what keeps repeating, add the digits together, and let the story come to you. The meanings are a springboard. The story is yours.
Sometimes a number is just a number
One day a man ran out of a market in Los Angeles to flag down my car. He knew I was a numerologist and he was frantic. “Remington, your total came to $18.42. What does it mean?” I told him it meant I had just spent way too much on a fresh juice and a bottle of water.
Every number has meaning, and these rabbit holes are fun to explore. Keep some common sense with you. Sometimes a receipt is just a receipt.
